Welcome back to Wedding Wednesday where each week Rebecca of Tastefully Entertaining and I select one card from FineStationery and create two different inspiration boards. This week we selected one of my long-time favourite wedding invitations from Checkerboard. The photos of this card do not do justice to how attractive it is in person. The smooth white paper atop dusty violet iridescent stock and topped off with a bow is simply glamorous. I have to admit, purple has gone from a color I absolutely could not stand to a shade that I must now refrain from wearing every other day. Viva violet!
I'm in a spring mood so I'll start with the flowers. I selected floral arrangements from Jamie Rothstein's incredible portfolio of table arrangements and room decor. When I was having trouble finding the bouquet I had in mind for this board, I turned to Style Me Pretty - one of the best resources for wedding inspiration and ideas (with a great stationery line to boot). There I found the perfect lavender bouquet as photographed by Elizabeth Messina. Your wedding cake is a great way to further incorporate floral decor as illustrated by this simple yet elegant cake photographed by Anne Ruthmann.
The favors, by Livia Cetti, were one of the first things I selected for this mood board. I first came upon Livia's work after Joy posted about her arrangements. I am such a huge fan of her work and the styling on her website is excellent. If you're looking for floral inspiration, you must view her work!
To finish up the look, I selected a lovely lavender dress from Vera Wang. This dress would be great for the reception, the bridesmaids or the bride. I'm all in favor of going for a bit of color; not everyone looks good in white! To toast the end of a big day (and the beginning of a new life), opt for a signature drink or one that incorporates the colors of your wedding. I selected the Purple Haze martini not only because it matches the theme but also because I am obsessed with pomegranate. Mmmm...
Rebecca did an excellent job (as always) with her inspiration board. Where as I went for a softer palate, Rebecca went for dramatic impact. I absolutely love her selections and I'm sure you will too! Be sure to stop by her blog to check out her interpretation of our Wedding Wednesday theme.
Posting should be back to normal shortly. We're moving (same building, different floor) so things have been a little bumpy! Thanks for your patience while I settle into my new digs.
