Reader Request: An Autumn Marine Wedding

Jessica left a message on the FineStationery.com Facebook page asking for help with her upcoming wedding. I was so excited to see her message because her request is a challenging one! Jessica is getting married to a Marine in October. The groom-to-be will be wearing his dress blues – how dapper! The bride is worried that their wedding will take on a patriotic look because of the groom’s attire. She loves fall colors, and is looking for a palette that will complement the Marine’s dark uniform.

When I think of a Marine’s dress blues, I think of dark blue and navy with shiny gold accents. While the uniform does have touches of red, I suggest not concentrating on them as part of your palette if you want to stay away from a patriotic look. Navy blue pairs well with a very rich plum color. So, for a regal autumnal palette, use navy, deep plum and gold.
