Sincerely: A Conversation with Monique Lhuillier

We recently sat down with leading bridal and fashion designer, Monique Lhuillier, to discuss our recent collaboration. Inspired by her ethereal bridal collections and elegant ready-to-wear pieces, this collection is the epitome of luxury stationery. Read below to see how Monique describes her inspiration and her favorite pieces of the collection.

Q : Explain the inspiration behind the line. How is the process the same or different than developing bridal wear?

A : It was important that my new fine paper collection had the same elegant but not over-the-top feeling of my bridal gowns. The collection is special because we spent so much time on the details - cotton paper stock, blush accents, rose gold patterns. I'm all about the details whether it's a gown or an invitation, the process to create something beautiful is the same.

Q : What is your favorite invitation suite from the collection?

A : Jolie is without a doubt my favorite. I love rose gold and a strong metallic statement is always so glamorous.

Q : What do you love most about weddings? Tell us about a favorite moment from a wedding you've attended.

A : I'm a hopeless romantic and love the fantasy of weddings. I feel very honored to be part of one of the most important and celebratory moments of a woman's life. I love when the bride makes her entrance, I always watch the groom's face for that instant when he first sees her. It's a magical moment to watch as he lights up and has eyes for only her.

Q : Which piece of stationery from the collection do you see yourself adding to your desk? What do you love about it?

A : I love the Gilded Monogram stationery. It's simple, chic and so versatile. Everyone needs an all occasion note card on their desk!

Q : Why was developing a line of stationery important to you?

A : I wanted to create invitations that incorporated traditional techniques with the modern, romantic feeling of my gowns. Tradition is important to my brides and me, whether its couture or stationery.
